Prior to receiving his doctoral degree in sociology, Hammad ibn Nishat obtained three Master’s degrees. When he was residing in Pakistan, he obtained MBA degree in 2010 (graduated with cum laude) and MPhil degree in 2012 (awarded gold medal) in Human Resource Management (HRM). After returning to Canada, he obtained his M.Sc. (Management) degree from the University of Lethbridge, Canada, in 2015. Among the many scholarships and awards that he received during the M.Sc. (Management) program, also included Queen Elizabeth Graduate Scholarship, which is awarded to students who attain a high level of academic achievement.
During his decade-long stay in Pakistan, Hammad ibn Nishat was fortunate to have learned transmitted sciences of Islamic tradition – that is, usul-fiqh and usul-hadith under the tutelage of prominent Muslim scholars. As a result, he obtained ijazahs for as-sihah as-sitta. Then, after his return to Canada, Hammad ibn Nishat learned intellectual sciences of Islamic tradition – that is Islamic philosophy. He extensively studied the works and thoughts of Ibn Arabi and Mulla Sadra.
Hammad ibn Nishat’s research interests cover a wide array of subjects, including Qur’anic studies, Hadith literature, and the socio-economic experiences of Western Muslims. His work has been published in peer-reviewed journals and he also participates in public discussions and forums, with the hope of making a positive contribution to both the academic community and society.
